Dear friends,

I use the pseudonym GuruGeri for my private activities als writer and painter. In real life my name is Gerold Rahmann. 

A lot of action has happen since I was born in the year 1962 on a little dairy farm in Amerika, located in East Frisia, North-West Germany. Before I will die (I guess in 2042, as statistics promised me), I like to eternize some information about me and my activities into the virtual world:

After high school and civil service I studied agricultural economy at the University of Göttingen, Germany. From 1990 to 1993 I was scientist in the interdisciplinary project "Animal Husbandry in the Sahel - Recent situation and development". In 1993, I made his PhD in socioeconomics at the same university at the Institute of Rural Development. 1993 I moved to a post-doc position to the University of Kassel, the faculty of Organic Agricultural Research, and focused my work in the "Biotope management with Livestock in Europe". In 1999 I did my habilitation in this area at University of Kassel, Germany. Since 2006 I am honorary professor at the same faculty. 
In 2000, I became founding director of the Federal Institute of Organic Farming at the German Federal Agricultural Research Centre (FAL). In 2007, the German federal agricultural research was reorganized and the FAL terminated. The Institute of Organic Farming was integrated into the Research Centre of Rural Areas, Forestry and Fishery - the Thuenen-Institute - under the umbrella of the German Ministry of Nutrition and Agriculture (BMEL). From 2015 to 2017, I took a long term leave to establish the Green Innovation Centre in Ethiopia, as part of the Special Initiative One World no Hunger, as global programme of the German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). 
Besides the main job duties, I was voluntarily active in national and international organizations, mainly in the area of organic farming. 2014-2024 I was president of the International Society of Organic Farming Research (ISOFAR) and from 2014-2021 World Board member of the International Federation of Organic Agricultural Movements (IFOAM). From 2014-2021 I was editor-in-chief of the scientific Journal of Organic Agriculture and associated editor of the scientific Journal of Sustainable and Organic Farming. 
In 1986, I joined the German Green party and became active in the counties of Göttingen (1989-2000) and Stormarn (2003-2028).

Probably my results of life are not exciting enough to become high impact or reputation in global dimensions, discussions and developments, but nevertheless, it was never boring and I gained a lot of experience.
