Guru Geri in Eritrea

In 1992 I crossed the border of Eritrea in the region near Kassala. At that time there was a large flow of refugees from Eritrea to Sudan because of the civil war, but there were nomads in Eritrea because the drought since 1991 has exhausted the pastures in Sudan. I went over once to visit families of the Shukria, where I had 6 months field stay, who had moved here because of the lack of food. But because there was nothing here either, they moved to the refugee camps near Kassala. The border was open, no control, rather coincidence that I was in Eritrea. In 2017 I spent 2 days in Asmara to make some fotos for my World of Agriculture. I took a hotel close to the airport and a taxi to roam around in the city and the surrounding areas. Time was too short for deep insigth, nevertheless, better than nothing.
