Guru Geri in Namibia

I wanted to show my children Africa live without the risks. Namibia as a former German colony still has the image of a perfect African world. This was fully confirmed when four of us were in Namibia in 2005. Very clean, well organized, great landscape. Was the best family tour so far. We were in the Etosha National Park, in the Namib Desert and in the Canyons in the South. In the meantime we were with Judith Isele (my former graduand) and her friend Ekhard on Springbokvley as well as with Peter Lühl on the farm Garib in the Kalahari. We had a good car, kids were allowed to drive, enjoyed the freedom and the luxury.
Windhoek and the other cities are rather boring but practical and clean.

  • 2007 on the Chobe River (Caprivi) by boat in the Namibian territorial waters (unofficial border crossing). The same in 2009.
  • 2011 via Ghanzi, Gobabis to Namibia to Judith and Ekkehard with Heiner Rahlfs. Then via Namib Desert, Windhoek, Etoscha, Rundu (boat tour to Angola, my 103rd country) through the Caprivi to Katima Mulilo and over the Ngoma Bridge back to Botswana. A total of 10 days in Namibia.
  • 2012 in May again on Springbockvley, the Namib Desert, Etosha and - new - in Opuwo and Swakopmund (with Fritz Wodarz, Heiner and Birgit Rahlfs). A great landscape and hopefully everything well done for the Africa application. Workshop in Okahandja, where even the Minister of Agriculture gave a welcoming speech. Ekkehard Külbs died in an accident this February. Judith is alone in mourning making Springbockvley. She did not meet this time.
  • 2014 the 6th time in Namibia, this time again with Klaudi and Christian Hülsebusch, together on the farm Springbockvley near Judith, which is organic since 2013. There we designed a project for pasture optimization according to the concept of Holistic Management.
  • In 2015 the 7th time for 13 days in Namibia. Two days Windhoek (at Wiebke Volkmanns), then with Klaudia and Christian Hülsebusch 11 days to Judith Isele on Springbockvley to take plant samples for our HoMa project and to discuss the project. It was very pleasant, like free time, and entertaining. Nothing else done in Namibia.
  • 2017 with Klaudia back on Springbok Vley, and down to Fish River. A total of 7 days with off-road vehicles.
